Our History
In 1981, Tom Miozzi decided to elevate his truck driving business and created T. Miozzi, LLC, making sure to put quality control and having a superior product first. He dedicated himself to learning the ins and outs of the trade and passed this along to his team throughout the years. In 2022 T. Miozzi, LLC joined the Peckham Family of Companies.
North Kingstown, RI
In 2022, Peckham Industries, Inc. completed the full acquisition of T. Miozzi, LLC of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, providing hot mix asphalt, paving and construction services, and aggregates. T. Miozzi’s operations include over 80 dedicated members. The company sells a variety of hot mix asphalt designs that are RIDOT and MADOT approved.
Hot and warm mix asphalt is made up of approximately 95% aggregates, asphalt binder, additives, and modifiers used in roads, highways, parking lots and driveways. Of the 2.8 million miles of paved roads in the U.S., about 94% are surfaced with asphalt.
Charlestown, RI
In addition to the hot mix plant, T. Miozzi operates a stone quarry located in Charlestown, Rhode Island, supplying aggregate to the local market. From the quarry, the company provides a number of different aggregates available for sale. T. Miozzi sand and ¾” stone are RIDOT approved.
Aggregates are made up of primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel that are vital to the construction of housing, schools, hospitals, roads and highways. The aggregates industry, literally the foundation of our nation’s infrastructure, is a significant contributor to the economic wellbeing of our country. Created from plutonic upwelling of slow cooling magma during the Acadian orogeny (approximately 400 million years ago), the rock being mined at the Charlestown quarry represents the ancient roots of a massive mountain chain that rivaled the modern Himalayas in terms of elevation and geographic breadth. The Alaskite and Alaskite Gneiss -which is a type of Granite and Granitic Gneiss respectively- is found in Charlestown and throughout Washington County, RI. This rock is a durable, lightweight and colorful stone useful for the production of construction aggregates and decorative stone.
